For public health agencies, effective disease surveillance and response demands timely, effective information flow. Without real-time information from the field, it is impossible to detect outbreaks. Without the ability to communicate and interact with the field, it is impossible to respond. Voxiva HealthWatch is an integrated surveillance platform used by public health agencies around the world to support integrated disease surveillance, syndromic surveillance, and coordinated response.

Disease Reporting
Staff in the field are able to submit real-time reports on individual or group cases via web, mobile phone or interactive voice response. Report forms can be configured on-line or copied from a library of standard surveillance reports.

Database Mining
Data from multiple external sources can also be integrated into common data formats such as protocols or syndromes and then analyzed.

Outbreak Detection and Analysis
Filters can be applied to the data through a simple user interface to search for and categorize data and then display it as line listings, on epi graphs, tables and geospatial maps.

Alerts on Health Events
Algorithms can be established to constantly mine the data looking for unusual health events. Once detected alerts can be triggered and sent to distribution lists via text messages or e-mail to make sure that the appropriate people are alerted in real-time.

Case Investigation
Collaborative tools for case investigation can be used to input case data, follow a workflow as the case moves its way through the process and incorporate external data sources such as labs systems.

Outbreak Management
HealthWatch also incorporated tools to support case grouping, contact tracing and targeted communications to contain and respond to outbreaks.



Alberta Health Surveillance - Alberta Real-Time Syndromic Surveillance Net (ARTSSN) is an online application that leverages Voxiva’s health surveillance platform to provide AHS epidemiologists with the capability to access and monitor information from dozens of separate health systems used to deliver health services to the province.

Peru Navy Surveillance - Alerta allows real-time data transmission via the internet or any telephone. Beginning with 11 reporting Navy health facilities the surveillance system has since expanded to more than 200 reporting units covering 97.5% of the Peruvian Navy medical beneficiary population and some communities located in remote areas in the Amazon basin and the Andes.
