As the global concern about the
spread of swine flu grows, Voxiva systems are being used in both its detection
and response. In Canada, Alberta Health Services - Edmonton Area is using
Voxiva's HealthWatch surveillance solution (branded by them as ARTSSN) to
monitor and detect early incidences of possible swine flu. Shihe
Fan, an epidemiologist with Alberta Health Services - Edmonton Area said today that "This situation is exactly the
kind of thing ARTSSN was designed to do and the swine flu outbreak is proving
just how valuable and useful the ARTSSN system really is." In Washington
DC, the DC Department of Health (DoH) Bureau of Epidemiology and Risk
Assessment is also using Voxiva's HealthWatch application for the early detection of
flu outbreaks in the DC school system.
On the preventative side, Voxiva in partnership with Quinnian
Health (
www.quinnianhealth.com),
provides a Pandemic Preparedness application which allows companies to
register their employees, who then take online health assessments in order
to be prescribed and sent appropriate medications, along with a supply of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
"Whilst the government has released 25%
of the 50 million stockpiled doses of Tamiflu people still need a valid
prescription before they can receive treatment" says John Brownlee, CEO of
Quinnian Health. "The Voxiva/Quinnian solution allows them to streamline the
prescription process ensuring they can be prescribed the correct treatment in a
safe & timely manner".
